Jaguar Boys Golf Opens the Season

The SEV boys golf team opened the season despite mother nature rearing her “spring head cold.” The Jags are anchored by returning senior letter winners Will Halligan and Carson Suchan. Senior Caden Larson has returned to the team after lettering as a freshman. Junior letter winners Elias Field and Caden Konecne also return. Senior Max Miller, junior Xander Dorman, sophomores Spencer Suchan, Hane Sorenson and Maverick Dorman round out the upper classmen. Freshman Will Comp, Brogen Skoglund, Caden Kaltschnee, Cole and Drew Lundgren complete the roster. Coach Blunk commented “this has been a tough spring golf wise trying to get outside but we’ve got out there a few times. Most practices have been inside hitting into the nets, putting in the library, going over rules videos, scoring, that type of stuff. That is important but you need to get outside and on the course. We did manage to get in two scrimmages shooting 189 and 182. Everyone is in the same boat so you do the best you can to improve. We’ve had three meets cancelled/postponed so far due to the weather. It’s just been to cold and windy.”

4/11/2022 Hilcrest Country Club @Graettinger Terrill Ruthven Ayrshire: The Jags competed in a JV V conference quad vs. GTRA, South Central Calhoun and Emmetsburg. Emmetsburg shot 161, GTRA 176, SCC 189 and SEV 194. Will Halligan lead the Jags with 47 and Elias Field shot 48. Carson Suchan shot 49 and Will Comp 50. Caden Konecne shot 53 and Caden Larson 59. JV team total was 230 finishing 4th. Spencer Suchan led the JV with 54. Hane Sorenson shot 57, Maverick Dorman 59 with Max Miller and Brogen Skoglund each carding 60. Caden Kaltschnee shot 68. Coach Blunk commented “we really struggled putting. We’ve spent a lot of time on chipping and putting in practice. We need to continue to improve to get the scores down to where we can be. With this crazy weather we have 7 scheduled meets in the next 10 school days so we will be busy. Fortunately, we have gotten meets rescheduled. The season goes very quickly so we need to stay focused.” The Jags have home meets at Gowrie Monday and Tuesday, at Dayton on Thursday.
