Boys Golf TLC Dual vs Pocahontas Area
@ Gowrie: Twin Lakes Conference Dual between Pocahontas Area and Southeast Valley
After a tough start to the week, the SV Boys’ Golf team did not want another opportunity to slip away out of their grasps. With a firm grip, and a steady confidence in the team’s abilities, the SV Jaguar golfers shot a solid 163 team score to defeat Pocahontas Area on Thursday night, April 17th. Pocahontas Area tallied a 189 on the night, paced by Karson Welander’s 45.
Brady Hanson and Karson Roper took home the 1st and 2nd place low scores, with Hanson carding the low 38, and K. Roper with a close runner up finish with 39. Hanson sunk a long birdie putt on his last hole (#9) to capture meet medalist honors.
Also scoring for the Varsity team were Will Comp with a 42, and Dawson Tuel with a 44. Hayden Butrick and Drew Temple both narrowly missed the scoring threshold for the Varsity with a 45 and 46, respectively.
The JV line-up for SV shot 178, but PAC did not fill out a full team. Hayden Greene and Linkin Roper shot 42 and 43, Benson Konecne and Declan McGuire shot 46 and 47; and Colton Haug, Owen Pudenz, and Nick Field shot 49, 51, and 57.
Coach Dahlstrom commented on how this meet really helped the players gain a strong confidence in where they are as a team, and the confidence individually is growing. Dahlstrom mentioned, “Monday night, falling 4th in the TLC Quad; and falling by two strokes on Tuesday against St. Edmond’s, I think the team understands what could have been, and where we can be down the course of the season. It was a good night, and we are making the necessary strides for a fun and eventful season.”
Up next for SV is a JV/V dual at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Monday, April 21st, and a Co-ed JV/V dual at Manson on Thursday, April 24th.
