Jags Win First Round of Playoffs

The Jaguar football started the postseason with a huge 46-7 win over Sheldon. What a great way to start the playoffs.

Class 2A had 48 teams in their class. 16 were eliminated before the playoffs started. Another 16 were eliminated after the first round so class 2A is down to 16 teams.

Coach Swieter wanted the ball to start the game and he wanted nothing less than going down and scoring to set the tone for the game. Carl Berglund ran and caught a couple, Kolson had some runs and Lathe had some runs. On play 8 Lathe ran it in from the 3 and also ran in the 2 point conversion and Jags took the early lead 8-0

The Jags defense was huge all night. They started with a quick 3 and out.

Jags offense went to the air with Kolson Kruse hitting Tre Fisher, Carl Berglund and Eli Johnson all for passes and then hit Eli Johnson with a 27 yard pass. Lathe Muench ran in his 2nd 2 point conversion and the Jags were ahead 16-0 and Sheldon had only run 3 plays.

Jags defense forced another 3 and out.

Kolson Kruse hit Tre Fisher for a quick 41 yards and then hit Tre again for an 18 yard TD. Jags took the lead 22-0

Sheldon finally got their first down in the 2nd quarter but that was all the Jags defense was going to allow before forcing them to punt.

Kolson Kruse has some nice runs of 10, 33, 12 and 7. Kolson hit Eli for a quick 15 and Lathe Muench finished with a 10 yard run and then ran in the 2 point conversion. Jags lead 30-0.

Sheldon had a big pass play of 17 yards to get their 2nd first down but the defense stepped up again.

The Jags offense got the ball back with less than 2 minutes before half. Kolson Kruse hit Tre Fisher for a 53 yard TD and Kolson ran in the 2 point conversion and led 38-0 at half.

Sheldon started the second half but had to punt after 3 plays.

Jag's offense went right back to work. Kolson hit Carl Berglund for 10, Colton Brant for 24, Carl again for 10, then Kolson ran for 14 and Lathe finished the work with a 5 yard TD run. Kolson ran in the 2 point conversion and the Jags lead 46-0

Sheldon put a late drive together to make the final score 46-7

This was a great night for the Jags. The Jags offense had 410 yards and only gave up 118. Coach Swieter was happy because a lot of players got to be part of this win tonight. 5 different guys caught a ball and 5 guys ran the ball. This was a nice way to start the playoffs.

Coaches were very happy with this win but know we have to fix some mental mistakes and eliminate our penalties if we want to continue this run deep into the playoffs.
