JagWires move on to Super Qualifiers Meet in Johnston

Print Version

Throughout this season, the Southeast Valley robotics teams have been competing at various league meets. At the first postseason meet of the year, the current league standings and results of the League Championship meet went into account for the final standings. The freshman-sophomore team, Gear Heads, and the junior-senior team, JagWires, were both in competition at this meet at Fort Dodge Senior High.

Throughout the qualification matches in the day, the JagWires had a slow start. A servo issue caused their claw to not work as intended, resulting in one loss and one game where they narrowly won by one point. After those matches, the JagWires hit their stride, and handily won their next matches. The JagWires went 4-1 on the day and finished 5th in the 27-team league. The Gear Heads went 3-2 and finished 11th in the league.

The end of the day consists of alliance selections and elimination matches. The JagWires were selected to be in the #1 seeded alliance by the Circuit Breakers of Waukee, who the JagWires formerly held the Skystone world record with. Working together with Circuit Breakers and GLOW, another Waukee team, the JagWires ended being the winning alliance for the day, and are moving on to Super-Qualifiers! The Gear Heads, unfortunately, are not moving on to Super-Qualifiers.

The Southeast Valley robotics teams would like to thank the community for their support so far this season. The Super-Qualifier meet is next Saturday, February 1st, in Johnston. If you can’t be there in person, it will be streamed on the FTC Iowa YouTube channel. We would love your support either in person or online!
