JH Baseball First 2 Games

Southeast Valley JH Jarguar Baseball opened up their season last week, playing both Wednesday and Thursday to bring in the month of June.  On Wednesday, June 2nd, the 7th graders lost 15-5 against Pocahontas, scoring their 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning.  With bases loaded, led by the momentum-swing provided by both Drew Dorsey and Connor Brandon, 3rd-basemen Drew Temple connected on a bases-clearing triple to bring in 3 RBI's to end the game.  Ehtan Tucker and Ryan Stewart each pitched in the game for the Jaguars.

On Thursday, June 3rd, the JH teams hosted the Mustangs from Newell-Fonda.  In the first game of the day, the 7th grade team lost 14-0 in a 3-inning ball game.  Drew Temple started the game on the mound, with Kayden Showers closing out the 3rd inning.

In the second game, the 8th graders made a game of it, but gave up 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning, falling 9-2.  Guage Jones pitched well for 3 full innings, only giving up 2 runs, only giving up 2 hits, and allowing 4 base runners on base via a walked batter or a hit batter.  Trailing 4-0, the Jags scored two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and had the bases loaded with 2 outs, ready to cross more runs across the plate before a strikeout to conclude the inning, trailing 4-2.  In the top of the 5th, the Mustangs put the bat to the ball; ripping both a triple and a hard hit double, while also lining two lined-drives past 3rd base to increase the 2 point advantage to a 9-2 lead.  The Jaguar defense had 5 total errors in the ball game, with 3 coming in the crucial final inning of the game.  Unfortunately, the final score does not show what was otherwise a closer and more competitive ball game.  Mental mistakes and defensive errors can add up quickly and the SV Jags look forward to the next opportunity to limit such mishaps and improve greatly as a team.

The next game for Junior High Baseball will be back-to-back-to-back home games Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday starting on June 9th-June 11th.
