Baseball 6/4 VS Manson

5-1 (6-2) (Conference 2-0)

HANSON STRIKES OUT 13 TIES SCHOOL RECORD FOR STRIKEOUTS
The pesky conference rival Manson NW Webster Cougars were the Jags last opponent of the
week and ended being the second conference win of the week as well. The Jaguars struck first scoring
two runners in the second inning when Lucas Jondle hit a double over the first baseman’s head to get
things going. After an error by the third baseman off the bat of Rhett Grandfield which scored Jondle.
Grandfield would eventually cross the plate. After a run crossing the plate for the Cougars in the 3 rd
inning it was looking like another close game for the two ball clubs. The Jags didn’t wait long to strike
again as they go two more runs in the top of the 4 th inning as Kolson Kruse lead off with a single. Hunter
Sorenson filling in the two hole for injured Caden Larson, came up with a huge triple scoring Kruse and
after a sac fly from the bat of Sam Hanson which allowed Sorenson to score. The Jags would score again
in the 7 th inning as Carson Lambert lead off the inning with a single and a triple by Grandfield scored
Lambert to give the Jags all the run support the pitchers would need.
Senior Sam Hanson got the call on the mound for the Jaguars. Throwing a heck of a ball game
going six innings only allowing 3 hits on one run. Sam also tied the school record for strikeouts in a
game with 13 set by current pitching coach Andrew Dorage. Sam was solid on the mound with a 1.17
ERA in the conference match up. Fellow senior teammate Rhett Grandfield came in the 7 th inning and
shut the door on the Cougars throwing 10 pitches striking out two batters and getting a ground out to
second baseman Lucas Jondle. The Jags finish their week much like the first week with a 3-1 weekly
record getting the Jags to a good start to the season with a 6-2 record and 2-0 in conference play.

JV: ACTION – 1-5 L (1-5)
Another tough game for the Jags JV squad as they scored their lone run in the 1 st inning as Kaden Holder
scored the lone run of the game to take the early lead but the cougars would come back to score three
runs to take the lead and keep it the rest of the way. The Jags had Junior Colby Russell throwing a solid
game but once again errors plagued the young Jaguar squad.
