Baseball 6/2/2021 VS Sioux Central Conferences

5-4 W (5-1) (1-0)
KRUSE IN CONTROL AND LAMBERT CLUTCH
It was Kolson Kruse’s night as the Junior had himself a huge night at the plate and on the mound
pacing the Jaguars to a huge conference win against one of the top teams in the league. Both teams
sent their aces to the mound as both pitchers threw two great ball games. It was the second inning
which saw Zack Miller score on a hit by pitch and then an error by the shortstop. Allowing a two out
rally from the bottom of the order starting with a single from Hunter Sorenson and followed up by a hit
by pitch on Rhett Grandfield which brought up Kruse to the plate. On a hanging breaking ball Kolson
sent the pitch way over the center field fence for a huge three run homerun which sent the Jag bench
into a frenzy. The Rebels held a 2 run lead at the time and gave the Jags a huge boost of energy. A close
well played ball game saw the Rebels do their own damage in the 5 th inning with two runs scoring on a
home run from the Rebels three hole hitter. The tied ball game came down to the last inning as Kruse
was closing in on his pitch count the Junior barely by throwing his 113 pitch to the last batter who struck
out. This set the stage for the Jaguars to win the game. Once again Kolson Kruse delivered leading off
the seventh with a double. Caden Larson was walked to set up the force play but also sent Sam Hanson
to the plate. A tough out from Sam sent up Carl Berglund who was replacing a sick Drew Corell in the
game. The Rebel coaches decided to intentionally walk Berglund loading the bases. This set the stage
for Carson Lambert, who had struck out all three at bats to totally redeem himself with two strikes on
him, he took a curveball to right field and allowing Kruse to score the game winning run! A huge hit and
a walk off that gave the Jags their first conference win of the season. It was a huge moment for the
Senior left fielder, one he will remember for along time.
The big game was no bigger than the pitcher and leading hitter Kolson Kruse who finished the
game 3-4 and scoring 3 RBI’s and a triple shy of the cycle. Of course, Carson Lambert’s single was clutch
to win the game while Caden Larson, Hunter Sorenson and Zack Miller each collected a hit in the game.
Kolson’s pitching stats on the night included a 3.00 ERA with 8 strikeouts, 3 walks, on 5 hits

JV: ACTION – 0-6 L
The young Rebels will be a good team for years to come as they finished off the JV squad with a
impressive 0-6 Win. The Jag bats were kept at bay by a solid pitcher for the Rebels as the Jags JV team
mustered a few walks but not much outside of that. The highlight of the game was Hane Sorenson. The
freshmen pitcher threw pretty well with a few errors which lead to runs didn’t help any but Hane keep
throwing strikes and allowed only two earned runs in the game.
