Softball 6/2/2021 VS Sioux Central

The Jaguars put one more in the win column Wednesday night against a very talented Sioux Central Rebel squad. The Jags would take the victory by a score of 8-5.

Sophomore pitcher Maddie Vansickle was dealing in the circle forcing the strong Rebel offense to break their impressive hitting streak. Vansickle pushed through adversity and a small strike zone to get one K, but utilized the talented defense behind her. Freshman shortstop Kenna Scott put away four herself, but the solid defensive showing by three senior outfielders helped seal the win for Vansickle and the Jaguars. The trio of Alli Bethel, Emily Jaeschke, Marlie Johnson played lights out making diving catchers and keeping the extremely quick Rebels at bay.

The hot sticks continued for the Jaguars tonight with five singles and five RBIs off the bats of Marlie Johnson, Jordyn Rowley (with two), Emily Hemmestead, and Olivia Tenuta. Hemmestead and Tenuta would also step up big in the box with back-to-back monster doubles in the fifth inning. Combining these hits with taking advantage of four Sioux Central errors and disciplined at bats that garnered walks  from seniors Emily Jaeschke, Chloe Hicks, and freshmen Ellie Nolte would put the Jags in the driver seat for each of the seven innings played.

Southeast Valley softball will be back in action against Algona on Thursday, June 3 for a JV/Varsity matchup starting at 5:30 in Harcourt.
