Baseball 5/24/2021 VS Roland Story

5/24 vs. ROLAND STORY  / 2-12 L (0-1)

The opening night for the Jaguars ended in disappointment as they fell to 5th ranked Roland Story.  Roland Story comes in with a great pitching staff and they did not disappoint giving up two hits on the night.  One no bigger than Sam Hanson’s colossal crash that went over the centerfield fence scoring the two runs for the Jags on the night.  Catcher Caden Larson reached on base after a hit by pitch and Sam took care of the rest.  A tough first matchup for the Jaguars as Roland Story looks to be one of the teams looking for a state berth.

Defensively the Jags saw some first game jitters and had some miscues on the field.  The good news is the pitching was solid for the Jags as they actually keep the game close heading into the 5th inning with a 6-2 ballgame.  Starting for the Jags was Senior pitcher Sam Hanson, who pitched honorably, but reached his pitch count and gave the ball to fellow senior Rhett Grandfield.  Both seniors threw very well and hopefully with anchor a much-improved pitching staff.  Juniors Zack Miller and Kolson Kruse also saw action on the mound as well to finish up the pitching.

JV ACTION:  8-1 L (0-1)

The JV team suffered a loss to the Norsemen in their first game of the season.  Sophomore Justin Loseke pitched honorably on the mound for the Jags, but with a couple of miscues allowed runners to cross the plate.  The first game saw many subs coming into the game, as every player got into the game in some capacity.  Sophomore Carl Berglund did a good job catching behind the plate, as junior Kaleb Monroe and Colby Russell saw their first action of the year.
