Kaleb Scott At Drake Relays 2021

On Friday, Southeast Valley junior Kaleb Scott received one of the biggest honors in the state of Iowa for the sport of track and field as he became the first individual boy to qualify for the Drake Relays from Southeast Valley.  Kaleb’s jump of 6’ 4” at Greene County earlier this year was good enough to qualify for the relays.

The Drake Relays is a three day track meet in Des Moines each year where some of America’s best college and professional track and field athletes compete each year while inviting some of the best high school athletes in the state of Iowa to compete in select events.  If you qualify for the Drake Relays in high school it means you are the best of the best in the state regardless of class.

This year due to covid, all the high school events will be contested on Thursday, April 23rd.  In a traditional year, the high school events would be scattered amongst college and elite events giving the athletes an opportunity to rub shoulders with possible athletes who could be competing in the upcoming 2021 summer olympics.
