Boys Track 4/16/2021 At Manson


The Jaguar boys’ track team competed in the Emily Markert Relays on Thursday, April 16th at Manson.  In the 12 team field, the Jaguars finished 10th overall.  ACGC was the overall team champion with 134 points and St. Edmond was 2nd with 99 points.  

Leaders for the boys on Thursday night was Sam Hanson who once again won the long jump with a jump of 20’ and Cooper Nuss took bronze in the 1600m run with a season best time of 5:10.27.  Hanson also took 5th with a season best of 16.51 in the 110m high hurdles.  Tre Fisher jumped 19’ 2.75” in the long jump to claim 5th place as well as finishing 7th in the 100m dash running a 12.24.  Ethan Ackerson placed 7th in the shot put with a throw of 38’ 9” and Ty Klatt finished 8th in the 110m high hurdles; his 19.06 a season best as well.  

The highest finish of a relay was 6th place where the 4 x 800m team of Cooper Nuss, Asa Haub, Zach Thompson and Oscar Hanson ran a 9:23.02 for a season best.  In the 4 x 200m relay, freshmen Jordan Cerwick, Jace Hanson, Carson Joyce and sophomore Carl Berglund took 7th in a time of 1:43.45. Jace Hanson, Carson Joyce, Carl Berglund joined Ty Klatt in the sprint medley relay to claim 8th (1:49.70).  Also finishing 8th place (49.99) was the 4 x 100m relay of Ty, Carl, Jace and Michael Eslick. 

Several other personal records were set Thursday night at Manson.  Asa Haub in the 800m run (2:26.83), Caelan Oakes-Sudhish (1:07.43) and Jace Hanson (1:07.11) in the 400m low hurdles and Zach Thompson (5:29.28) in the 1600m run all improved their times in their respective events.  Caelan Oakes-Sudhish, Jordan Cerwick, Oscar Hanson and Sam Hanson also teamed up to lower the school’s 4 x 400m season best with a time of 4:05.48.

The Jaguars will have Kaleb Scott competing at the Drake Relays in the high jump on Thursday in Des Moines, while the full team will next compete at Newell Fonda on Friday, April 23rd before returning to Manson on Tuesday, April 27th.
