Boys Varsity Basketball at Roland Story 2/18/2021

The SV Boys' basketball team lost to Roland-Story by the score of 58-49 on 02/18/21.  This was second round tournament play and the game was played in Story City.  The Jaguars were only down at half time by the score of 21-15 playing some tough defense.

Leading the Jaguars in scoring was Kolson Kruse with 27 points and holding their leading scorer to 2 points with the basket not even being scored on him.  Coach Johnson commented, " for a player to score 27 points and hold the top scorer from the other team to a bucket, is probably one of the best single game performances I have ever seen in high school basketball. He did have another game where he held one of the most prolific scorers in our league to hardly any points while scoring 33 points himself! College scouts will be knocking at his doorstep."  Sam Hanson added 9, coach Johnson commented, " Sam proved to be a very tough scorer all season long and  thought he played as a top 20 player in the Twin Lakes conference."   Kaleb Scott added 6, Hunter Sorenson 5, and Rhett Grandfield 2.  Coach Johnson comment, " our senior group of Hunter Sorenson, Sam Hanson, Rhett Grandfield, Carson Lambert, Braeden Johnson, Lane Fevold, Sam Sytsma, and Parker Garcia, all did their role well and provided quality, positive leadership that they will take with them to all areas of their life.  To have a winning season 13-10 (7-4 in conference) and only being 3 points short of a conference title is a testament to hard work and dedication it takes even during a pandemic year!  I truly love and will miss this group! They have matured to fine young men!"

Coach Johnson commented, " 5 of 7 winning seasons and a 90-70 record as Jaguars, 20 games above .500 is a testament to our kids desire to build a winning program.  This is not easy to come by, with a tough 12 team conference and a tough non-conference schedule with 3A teams and perennial powers.  I'm so proud of our players who have built a winning program!  The future is bright with many returners and some good young players, Our goal is to get to the Well next year!"   Coach Johnson would like to thank Coach Dahlstrom, Coach Gutshall, and Coach Sorenson for all their hard work and dedication to the program.
