JV Boys Basketball Final Season Game VS Clarion-Goldfield-Dows

The JV Boys Basketball team wrapped up their 2020-2021 season on Thursday, February 11th, falling to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows by the final score of 45-62.  The JV squad concluded the season with a 14-5 record on the hardwood floor.

In the contest, the Jaguars held a slight 1 point advantage at the end of the 1st quarter, leading 12-11.  In the 2nd quarter, the Jags continued to provide solid defense and effort, but in the last minute of the half, trailing 19-21, the Cowboys ballooned out the lead to 30-19, connecting on 3 consecutive three-point FG's, including one at the half-time buzzer.  The Jags continued to fight in the 3rd quarter, cutting the Cowboys lead to a 5 point game at 37-32, but at the end of the 3rd, the Jags found themselves trailing by 9,  down 34-43.  In the 4th, the young Jaguars made it a 6 point game, down 45-39, with 6 minutes remaining.  Hot shooting from the Cowboys and a 9-0 run midway through the 4th quarter was too much to handle, as the Jags dropped a contest that was much closer than what the final score represents.  Although the game resulted in a 15 point defeat, the Jaguars showed heart and fight throughout.

Drew Corell paced the JV team with 14 points and 3 steals.  Carl Berglund and Lane Fevold also reached double-figures in scoring, scoring 11 and 10 respectively.  Fevold also had a team-high 7 rebounds in the game.  Eli Johnson played solid PG play, scoring 9 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Logan Songer chipped in with 2 points and earned 1 offensive rebound in the contest.  Tyler Paterson rounded out the scoring with 1 point, 3 rebounds (2 offensively), and 2 steals.  Parker Garcia had 1 steal and 1 rebound in the game.  Nate Scott also played in the game.

Coach Johnson, Coach Gutshall, Coach Sorenson, and Coach Dahlstrom congratulate the JV team on a successful season and look forward to continued success, dedication, and improvement in the years to come, both on and off the basketball floor.

End of Quarter Scores: SV led 12-11, CGD led 30-19, 43-34, and 62-47.
