St. Edmond Dual Results | Wrestling

The Jags gave it a good run Saturday at the St Ed's duals Saturday, January 9th with the championship match coming down to the 5th dual of the day between Britt, West Hancock and the Jags. Both teams were 4-0 heading into the dual to determine the team championship but the 8th ranked 1A Eagles prevailed with a 40-27 victory capturing their second team title in two years. The Jags settled for runner up honors going 4-1 for the day, improving from last year's 2-3 fourth place finish. In the previous four duals the Jags took care of business. The Jags opened bright and early with the with Roland Story securing a 54-24 win, in the second dual the Jags hammered Fort Dodge JV 64-10, in the third dual the Jags defeated a depleted St. Edmond team 70-6, and in the fourth dual the Jags were victorious 66-16.

Going into the dual against Britt, West Hancock our guys wrestled really well against AGWSR. On paper the coaching staff thought the dual would be much closer but our guys did a really nice job of being aggressive and working for the pin, we were really happy with the effort. We knew Britt would be a tough one as they matched up well with us. They have guys ranked at 120, 160, 170, 195, and 220 that also featured some quality kids in their lineup that weren't ranked. We won six matches but lost two matches that were really close so if we could've reversed those matches the dual would have been 34-33 so we were disappointed but walked out of the gym feeling good about the effort of the guys for the day.

Caelan Oakes(113), Kaden Holder(126), Lathe Muench(170), and Aaron Graves(285) finished 5-0 for the day. Many wrestlers finished 4-1, including Max Miller(132), Ty Klatt(138), Jonah Siebert(145), Zack Miller(160), Harley Bryson(182), Jaxon Carlson(195), and Mark Hughes(220). Gabriel Killain(152) finished 3-2, Maddox Hanna(120) finished 1-1, and Spencer Peterson competed at 106.
