JAGS WIN 36-20 in the First District Game of the season!

The Jaguars found another way to win in a big time football game and are now 3-0 on the season.

The Jags offense started out in the Gate and took the early lead with Kolson Kruse hitting Colton Brant on a 52 yard pass to take the lead 6-0.

The Brincos came right back and scored on their 3rd play on a 59 yard run and the score was 6 to 6 with less than 2 minutes into the game.

Jags had a 3 and out.

Belmond put a 9 play drive together but were forced to punt.

The Jags put together a 18 play drive together but were stopped on 4th down.

Belmond 8 plays and punts

1st Play Kolson Kruse hit Kaleb Scott on a 54 pass and also hit Kaleb on the 2 point conversion.  Jags lead 14-6

Belmond 3 and out.

Jags put a nice 11 play drive together and Kolson Kruse hit Kaleb Scott again for a 8 yard pass for the TD and led 20-6 at half.

Belmond came out of the second half on fire with a 12 play scoring drive and made the score 20-13.

Kaleb Scott takes the kickoff back for a 77 yard TD and Kolson Kruse runs in the 2 point conversion.  That was huge right after they scored on their opening drive.

Belmond wasted no time and 2 plays later has a 63 yard run and makes the score 28-20

The Jags needed to control the clock and put a nice 13 play drive together and Lathe Muench scored on a 2 point conversion and Kaleb Scott ran in the 2 point conversion to make the final score 36-20

This was a huge win for the Jags.  Belmond was a 6 win team last season and only graduated 1 Senior.  They also had 17 Seniors out for football and had some very big boys.

Coach Swieter said when you win it is always a team effort but he did want to mention that Kaleb Scott had the best game of his life.  He did some things that really changed the game.  The kid has a lot of school and he showed it tonight.

Coach Swieter was very happy with this win but wants the boys to get a lot better.  We still had too many penalties and we gave up too many big plays by giving up 59 and 63 yard runs.  Those both kill you.  We preach to the boys that we always have to get better.

The Jaguar football program is now 5-0 overall.

The Jags will be back on the road next week to face Eagle Grove.
