7/2 @ Coon Rapids L 10-5 (4-4)

Print Version

A tough game to swallow for the Jags as they faced the always tough crusaders of Coon Rapids. The Jags struck early getting three runs early in the game. Couple of walks set up a sac fly to right off the bat of Sam Hanson then a pass ball allowed two runners to score. The crusaders came back with a fourth inning off self-destructive errors from the Jag defense which you can’t give to good teams. Again like last game it was one big inning which plagued the Jag baseball team once again.  The Jags threatened late in the game with bases loaded but a strike three ended the game giving the Jags another loss in the shortened weekly schedule.

Pitching for the Jags was Kolson Kruse who threw well but throwing extra pitches off errors came back to haunt the sophomore and the Jags. Junior Sam Hanson, relieved Kruse on the mound giving up three runs in 3 innings of work but throwing well against a good team.

Offensively, the Jags were lead by relief pitcher Sam Hanson with two hits and a Sac Fly. Jacob Slininger had a double, while not to be outdone Kolson Kruse also had a double himself. Zack Miller was the other lone Jaguar who also recorded a hit. A tough loss and tough week for the Jags as they evened up their record at 4-4.

JV Action: W 3-2 (2-2-1)

The JV team continued their winning ways as sophomore Colby Russell threw a gem on the mound for the Jag JV team. The defense set the tone and made the plays which allowed the narrow 2 to 3 victory. Hitters for the Jags included Carl Berglund and pitcher Colby Russell. Colby on the mound surrendered three hits but shut down any threats to score after that
