6-19 @ St. Mary's W 14-3 (1-2)

Print Version

Ending the first week of the shortened season, the Jaguar Baseball team finished their week in the win column taking the Panthers of storm lake St. Mary's in 6 innings. The needed win wasn't in doubt long, as the Jaguars scored every inning until the 5th inning where they were held scoreless. Pitching in the night was Junior Sam Hanson who threw a good game throwing a combined two hitter while allowing five walks. The junior was dominant on the mound as the Jaguar bats left allot of breathing room. Sophomore Zack Miller took over in the 5th inning striking out two and throwing a beautiful pick off at second to grab the lone runner of the inning.

Hits were plentiful for the Jags on the night lead by Kolson Kruse, Caden Larson, and Jacob Slininger who all tallied two hits each. Parker Garcia made his presence known coming into the game in the fourth and driving in a run on a hard hit ball. Then getting a base hit in his second at bat scoring two runners. Rounding out the hits for the Jags, was Carson Lambert and Memphis Simpson each getting one hit a piece. The Jags grabbed a much needed win to end the week. Next week's schedule is senior night vs. Newell Fonda. Wednesday is a trip to GTRA, Thursday is a Jv game only at Iowa Falls Alden then to South central Calhoun Friday night. Finishing up the week with a Saturday game at historic Patterson field with the Battle of the Valleys as the Southeast Valley Jaguars take on the Southwest Valley Wolves with a 3:30 jv start time.
