6/15 @ Pocahontas L 14-0 (0-1)

Print Version

The Jaguars opened their covid shortened 2020 season against the young and tough Indians from Pocahontas. Facing a huge task the first game out, the Jags were outmatched early as the Indians took advantage of walks early in the game to grab a commanding lead. All state pitcher Christian Davidson was too much for the Jaguar bats allowing no hits, although the Jags were aggressive at the plate the Indians made the plays defensively.

It was a tough draw for their first game out but the Jags pitching staff allowed 15 walks and 3 hit batters in the contest which is never a recipe for winning. The individual stat for the Jaguars was a stolen base by Sam Hanson later in the game. The Jaguars were up against a tough team and gave them too many breaks which you can’t do to beat a good team.

JV ACTION:   The Jaguar JV team faced off against the Pocahontas JV team before the Varsity contest.  The Jags hit the ball and got some good baserunning but the Indians took advantage of some walks and timely hits beating the Jags by a score of 8-4.  Hitting for the Jaguars was paced by Memphis Simpson, who had two hits on the night, scoring 2 runners.  Pitching for the Jaguars was Zack Miller and Parker Garcia who relieved Zack after reaching his pitch count.  Much like the Varsity game, the JV boys gave the Indians too many breaks.
