Girls fall short in first round of tournament play

Print Version

Gowrie, Iowa February 15th - Southeast Valley (8-13) Greene County (2-20) - Southeast Valley fell short against the Greene County Rams 51-56 in the first round of the class 3A Region 3 IGHSAU tournament.  Greene County out shot the Jaguars sinking 44% of their field goal attempts and 84% of their free throws. Score by quarters for Southeast Valley 15-9-10-22=51 and for Greene County 11-10-23-10=56.  Emily Jaeschke led scorers with 19 points, 5/7 from the field, 3/5 from 3 point range, and 6/8 from free throw line. “No team ever wants to lose the last game of the season, but the irony is that the only team that doesn’t is the state champions.  Hat’s off to Greene County on how well they played to extend their season. This season has ended with the girls teaching me a lot. One is pride that comes with competing at your best, being a team. These girls kept reminding me of that through the actions all season.”, Coach Mills.
