JV Girls Basketball vs Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center

The J.V. Girls Jaguars enjoyed a home court advantage last week hosting ACGC and East Sac.

     On Thursday February 6th the Jags struggled early to find the hoop, however strong defensive effort kept the game tied at 6-6 to end the first quarter. More confident shooting from the three point line in the 2nd quarter led to more consistent scoring the remainder of the game. The defense and rebounding in the 4th quarter held off a run by ACGC. Alison Bethel and Masidon Lane led scoring for the Jaguars with 9 points each. Shelby Mills put in 8, Jenna Hansen hit two 3’s for 6, Paytin Dorsey had 5, Madison Doyle and Sydney Carlson each had 2 points. The Jags combined for 31 rebounds led by Kyleigh Erritt and Mills with 8 each, Bethal pulled in 5. The Jaguars also combined for 11 steals in the contest. Lane 3, Carlson and Mackenzie Lambert each had 2. The buzzer sounded with a final score of 37-34. 

  Friday February 7th, the East Sac put the girls to the test in the first half.  The team effort on rebounding that started in the first quarter held the game close by limiting East Sac to one attempt for a possession.  The first quarter score was 5-4, the half time was 16-14. The Jaguars pulled ahead by 5 in the third quarter, finally pulling comfortably ahead in the 4th quarter behind 3 pointers by Dorsey and Bethal.  Emma Sitsma also gave the Jaguars a boost in the 4th quarter with two quick baskets in the paint. 

 Dorsey led the scoring with 10, Bethal added 9, Lane and Sitsma had 4 each, with Carlson, Madison Dolye and Mills adding 2 each. The rebounding effort was strong throughout the game, with the Jaguars pulling in a total of 38.   Kyleigh Erritt pulled in a season high of 12 rebounds. Hansen took in 5 rebounds, Lambert and Carlson each had 4, Mills and Sitsma each had 3, Dorsey and Bethal 2 apiece and Shinuna Juma 1.  Sistma led in steals with 2. Doyle, Lane and Dorsey each had one. The final buzzer had the score at 33-21 boosting the record to 9-7.
