Print Version

Manson, Iowa January 21- Southeast Valley (6-8) Manson Northwest Webster (2-11) - The Southeast Valley Jaguars defeated Manson Northwest Webster Cougars in a conference match-up 56-47.  The Jaguars maintained the lead throughout the game with the exception momentarily midway through the second quarter. Score by quarters for the Jaguars was 10-15-19-12=56 for the Cougars 6-11-15-15=47.  The win broke a 5 game losing streak on the season but also equaled last year’s win record. It was the first win in over a decade against Manson Northwest Webster. All scorers were led by Jaynie Ferrari with 22 points.  Chloe Hicks and Emily Jaeschke had 9. Sydney Carlson came off the bench with 8. Emily Hemmested cranked up the defense with a total of 5 steals. The team accumulated 16 assists and 14 steals on the evening. “This year has proven that any one night someone is able to step up and provide energy for the team.  The team rallied around her effort shown threw the assists and steals the team accumulated throughout the game. We had 3 girls that neared double digit scoring and when you are able to have team balance like that it is a sign that all the girls know their value within the team play. Every player contributed” Coach Mills.

Newell, Iowa January 24 - Southeast Valley (6-9) Newell Fonda (15-0) - Southeast Valley did their best to maintain composure most of the contest against the tenacious full court pressure of the Mustangs. Score by quarters for the Jaguars 7-6-9-8=30 and for the Mustangs 39-26-17-18=100.  “Newell-Fonda has mowed through every team this year. The speed they play has proven hard for any team to compete against including the Nebraska big school South Sioux City.” Coach Mills.
