Jags run at Bob Saunders XC Classic in Ida Grove

The Southeast Valley cross country teams traveled to Ida Grove on Monday, Oct. 14th for the Bob Saunders XC Classic. With twenty 1A and 2A schools competing, the varsity boys finished 12th and the varsity girls finished 13th. JV boys finished 3rd overall. The JV girls did not five runners for a team score.

Madison Doyle (48th, 25:00) lead the Jaguar girls, followed by Morgan Farnham (60th, 25:18), and Marlie Johnson (65th, 25:33). Jayden Gardipee (87th, 27:27) was the next Jaguar to finish running a season best. She was followed by Emily Hemmestad (92nd, 28:27), Viatris Scott (106th, 30:19) and Kylie Weiland (107th, 30:28).

Competing for the JV girls were Lauren Tidman (30th, 30:46), Shelby Mills (32nd, 31:30), Chistine Housken (34th, 31:56) and Taegan Long (35th, 31:58). Christine’s time was a season best.

In the boys’ race, Zach Thompson was again lead the varsity harriers and was followed by Cooper Nuss (54th, 20:32). Robert Jepsen (63rd, 20:50) edged teammate Caleb Kaltschnee (64th, 20:50) as Robert set a season best. Caleb’s time was his career best. Blake Peterson (71st, 21:15), Wyatt Sprecher (72nd, 21:17) and Asa Haub (87th, 22:20) rounded out the varsity 7.

Leading the JV to a third place finish was Nolan Jackson (13th, 22:40) and Ross Halligan (14th, 22:43). Parker Johnson (18th, 23:18), Kyle Johnson (20th, 23:21) and Sam Sytsma (32nd, 24:38) rounded out the scorers. Also competing were Ty Klatt (33rd, 24:46), Gage Erickson (34th, 24:59), Jacob Snyder (36th, 25:12), Jamie Dalley (44th, 29:37), Zane Geis (45th, 29:51) and Logan Stapp (48th, 33:17).

The Jaguars will compete on Saturday, October 19th at the Twin Lakes Conference meet in Emmetsburg and the class 2A state qualifying meet on Thursday, October 24th; site still to be determined.
