Jags compete in SCC Titans Invite

The Southeast Valley Jaguar cross country teams headed to Lake City last Tuesday, October 8th to compete in the SCC Titan Invite. The Jaguars came home with 3 JV medalists, 11 season best times and 5 all time best times as well as their best team finishes of the year.

On the boys’ side, the Jaguars finished 10th overall with 236 points. Ogden won the meet with 38 points, followed by Kuemper Catholic with 73 points and Pocahontas Area with 104 points. The girls finished 9th overall with 218 points. Manson Northwest Webster won the meet with 67 points followed by Pocahontas Area with 85 points and South Central Calhoun with 100 points. There were 14 total schools at the meet.

Kylie Weiland of the girls and Wyatt Sprecher and Nolan Jackson for the boys brought home medals in the JV races. Kylie was 13th with a time of 30:29. Wyatt was 4th with a time of a season best time of 20:59 and Nolan was 15th in the JV races with a time of 22:54.

Zach Thompson lead the boys’ varsity team with a 30th place finish and a time of 19:40. Asa Haub (42nd, 20:47) and Cooper Nuss (47th, 20:55) were the next two Jags across the finish line. Robert Jepsen (49th) and Caleb Kaltchsnee (68th) both ran season best PRs of 20:55 and 21:57. Blake Peterson (74th, 22:21) and Carson Suchan (77th, 24:03) completed the scoring for the varsity harriers.

Marlie Johnson (31st, 25:20), Morgan Farnham (32nd, 25:22), and Madison Doyle (41st, 26:03) were the first three varsity girls to finish for Southeast Valley. Emily Hemmestad (62nd, 28:07), Jayden Gardipee (63rd, 28:08) and Viatris Scott (72nd, 30:12) were the next three varsity runners to finish for the Jaguars.

Joining Kylie on the JV team Tuesday was Shelby Mills (17th, 31:19), Lauren Tidman (18th, 31:35), Taegan Long (19th, 31:36) and Christine Housken (20th, 33:26). On the boys JV team along with Wyatt and Nolan were Kyle Johnson (19th, 23:02), Ross Halligan (27th, 23:53), and Gage Erickson (33rd, 24:32) were the top five scorers. Also competing were Parker Johnson (34th, 24:33), Ty Klatt (36th, 24:46), Sam Sytsma (38th, 24:56), Jacob Snyder (44th, 26:58), Zane Geis (48th, 29:03), Jamie Dalley (53rd, 32:25), Logan Stapp (56th, 33:58) and AJ Smith (58th, 35:53).

The JV girls finished 3rd overall and the JV boys were 4th. The Jaguars have two regular season meets left. They compete at Ida Grove on Monday, October 14th and at the Twin Lakes Conference meet at Emmetsburg on Saturday, October 19th. The Varsity will run in the state qualifying meet on Thursday, October 24th at a site to be determined.
