JV Volleyball Keeps Improving

The junior varsity volleyball squad is continuing to make improvements executing their offense as the season goes on.  At their own invitational on Saturday, the team went 2-1 in pool play and ended the day in the championship flight 2-3 overall.  The lost to Carroll at the beginning of the morning, but defeated Pocahontas Area and Eagle Grove. In the championship flight they lost to East Sac County and Carroll again.  East Sac County went through the tournament undefeated and won the Invitational.

The girls were back in action on Monday, September 23rd at home with four other teams.  The girls opened the night with a win over West Bend-Mallard (21-11, 21-13). They split with Emmetsburg (21-23, 21-17) and South Central Calhoun (15-21, 21-19) and finished the night with a loss to East Sac County (13-21, 20-22). 

The girls defeated Storm Lake St. Mary’s by the scores of 26-24 and 25-9.  Jordan Dorsey, Madison Lane, Allison Bethel and Chyann Hicks were perfect from the serving lien.  Bethel, Welter, Lane, and Paytin Dorsey led the team with two or more kills for the night.  The junior varsity record is 7-11-2 overall.

Members of the junior varsity squad competing are: (setters:  Jordan Dorsey, Madison Lane, and Maddie Van Sickle); (back row specialist are Chyann Hicks and Meghan Willison); and (hitters are Allison Bethel, Haylee Welter, Becca Davisson, Abby Slininger, and Paytin Dorsey).
