Jaguars Open the Season with Two Victories

Eagle Grove, IA ~ The Southeast Valley varsity volleyball squad opened the 2019 season with two wins over Eagle Grove and South Hamilton.  They started the night by defeating the Eagles 25-10 and 25-22.  The team served at 85% with Delaney Conrad and Emily Jaeschke being perfect behind the line. Chloe Hicks had three ace serves while Delaney Conrad and Kenzie Crampton had two each.  Kiersten Fisher led the team with seven kills followed by Conrad and Ferrari with four, Crampton with three, Jaeschke had two and Welter with one.  Crampton led the team with five digs/saves.  Emily Jaeschke had 12 assists and Chloe Hicks had four.  Jaynie Ferrari had one ace block and one assist.

In the second match of the night the girls defeated the Hawks of South Hamilton by the scores of 25-23 and 28-26.  The team served at 92% efficiency with Conrad, Hicks, and Crampton perfect from the serving line.  Fisher had three ace serves, while Conrad and Crampton having one each.  Fisher led the team again with seven kills.  Conrad and Jaeschke had five kills followed by Crampton with three, and Ferrari and Welter with two.  Delaney Conrad led the team with six saves/digs while Crampton had four.  Emily Jaeschke had 10 assists and Chloe Hicks had eight.  Jaynie Ferrari had one ace block.

The varsity roster consists of Delaney Conrad, Kenzie Crampton, Jaynie Ferrari, Kiersten Fisher, Chloe Hicks, Chyann Hicks, Emily Jaeschke, Haylee Kraft, Jaidyn Rowley, and Haylee Welter.

Junior Varsity splits at Eagle Grove.  The Junior Varsity squad defeated Eagle Grove in the first match of the night in two games 25-18 and 25-13.  In the second match they lost to South Hamilton in the third game 18-25, 25-22, and 18-25. 

On Monday night the junior varsity girls kicked off their season at Lake City.  They lost both matches by the scores of 20-25, 18-25, and 25-19 to Newell-Fonda.  In the second match of the night they lost to South Central Calhoun 16-25, 25-21, and 15-25.  The team sits at 1-3 after the first two days of the season.  Currently the junior varsity squad consists of Allison Bethel, Becca Davisson, Jordan Dorsey, Paytin Dorsey, Chyann Hicks, Madison Lane, Abby Slininger, Madelyn VanSickle, Haylee Welter, and Meghan Willison. 

The junior varsity is a youthful squad with six freshmen on the roster seeing playing time.  The team will continue to work on the fundamentals so they can execute their offense more effectively.
