6/7 @Alta-Aurelia – Conference L

June 10, 2019

Print Version

Third conference game of the week sent the Jags on the long bus trip to Alta to play the reigning conference champs the Alta-Aurelia Warriors.   The Warriors lost some guys from their state tourney bid last year but still had a lot in the tank as they took a decisive win. Again the Jaguar Defense was not in their best shape as they allowed the door to open for the Warriors and they capitalized on a few Jaguar mistakes.   A well hitting ball club, the Jaguars tried to calm them by sending Jackson Housken on the mound.  Housken threw really well but with misplays by the defense the Warriors were allowed to keep hitting and Jackson to keep pitching which allowed them to capitalize on the Jags mistakes.

The Jaguars hit three base hits on the day.  Jackson Housken, Xavier Nichols, and Colton Kamp each gained a hit a piece with Colton being the lone Jaguar to cross the plate.  The Jaguars did earn seven walks on the day allowing runners to get into scoring position but the Jaguars kryptonite the past two games has been having runners in scoring position but never getting them across.  The loss leads to an even conference record at 2 and 2 with conference leader Pocahontas coming to Dayton for a new week conference matchup.

The JV game was exciting as ever.  As the JV team tied the JV Warriors at 5 a piece.  Senior Xavier Nichols looking to have a good outing pitched very well again a few defensive mistakes allowed the Warriors to tie the game but good plays by the Jags happened as well!  Lucas Jondle made some big plays which allowed warrior runs to not score.  Hits for the Jaguars came from Carson Lambert, Hunter Sorenson continued his JV hit streak, while Memphis Simpson did as well.  Other Jags with hits included Parker Garcia who had a huge 2 out double which scored two Jaguar runners to give them their 5th run and two huge runs at the time.  Unfortunately the Warriors answered in the bottom of the 5th  to end in a tie ball game.
