Jaguars Go 2-2 in Week Four

The varsity volleyball squad went 2-2 during week four of the season.  They opened the week with two wins against Eagle Grove and Saint Edmonds on Monday, September 10th in Fort Dodge.  The girls defeated the Eagles by the scores of 25-11 and 25-12.  In the second match of the evening the girls defeated the Gaels of St. Edmonds by the scores of 25-14 and 25-10.  Shelby Cummins led the way with serving in both matches going 100% and having three ace serves in both matches.  Mady Jaeschke led the team during the night with eight kills against Eagle Grove and 12 kills against St. Edmonds.   Morgan Castenson averaged 13.5 assists in both matches. 

The team traveled to Emmetsburg on Tuesday night and suffered two losses against conference schools in a triangular.  In the first match the team lost to Emmetsburg by the scores of 19-25, 25-22, 19-25, and 21-25.  Jaeschke led the team with 15 kills for the night.  She was followed by Delaney Conrad with eight and Kiersten Fisher had six.  Cassidy Lambert and Shelby Cummins led the team with saves having 11 each.  Morgan Castenson had 33 assists and was perfect from the serving line with 24 serves of which two were aces.  Also perfect with serving was Delaney Conrad, Mady Jaeschke, Delaney Conrad, and Shelby Cummins.

Following the Emmetsburg match the girls had to face Manson NW Webster and lost in five matches by the scores of 17-25, 20-25, 25-18, and 25-18, 13-15.  Those perfect from the serving line were: Morgan Castenson, Delaney Conrad, Cassidy Lambert, Kasey Lundberg, Kiersten Fisher and Emily Jaeschke.  Conrad and Lundberg had two ace serves while Lambert and Emily Jaeschke had one each.  Mady Jaeschke led the team with twelve kills followed by Kiersten Fisher and Delaney Conrad with nine each.  Jaynie Ferrari had eight kills and Lundberg had three.  Fisher and Conrad both had three solo blocks and one assist.  Mady Jaeschke and Jaynie Ferrari had three assist blocks too.  Morgan Castenson had 38 assists and eight saves.  Shelby Cummins and Cassidy Lambert led the team with 13 saves each. 

This was a tough and long night for the girls since they had to play back to back matches in conference action.  The girls began warming up at 4:30 in the afternoon and played nine games straight (two matches).  They didn’t finish play until 9:00 PM since they went so many games with both teams. 

The ladies have a challenging week ahead of them with St. Mary’s of Storm Lake on Tuesday, September 18th at home and then travel to Pocahontas Area on Thursday, September 20th in conference action against South Central Calhoun and PAC. 

The varsity record is 10-5 overall and 4-2 in conference.
