XC teams compete at Webster City

The Jaguar cross country team competed in its 2nd meet of the year on Tuesday, August 29th in Webster City.  Patrick Breitsprecher once again lead the boys’ team with his 8th place finish.  Patrick’s 17:47 was good enough for the team’s only medal and a season PR.  Coledon Bethel ran 19:10 for 35th followed by Ben Carlson in 20:08 for 54th.  Nolan Jackson (82nd, 22:27) and Lincoln Miller (83rd, 22:48) rounded out the scoring 5 for Southeast Valley.  Kaylb Crouse (87th, 22:54) and Parker Johnson (90th, 23:08) were the Jags 6th and 7th runners.  

    The boys finished 10th overall beating both St. Edmond and Manson who beat them the week before in Gowrie.  Humboldt edge South Hamilton by a single point for the team title.

    In the girls’ varsity race, Sammy Alps improved her season best time running 23:46 to finish 28th.  Teammate Katara Jondle also improved running 24:20 to take 32nd.  Freshman Emily Hemmestad (61st, 26:34), senior Tessa Berg (72nd, 27:35) and sophomore Emma Hunter (74th, 27:45) combined with Sammy and Katara for a team score of 247 points which was good enough for 10th.  Humboldt won the meet with an impressive 20 points.

    Freshman Marlie Johnson (77th, 28:43) and Morgan Farnham (81st, 29:30) were the Jags’ 6th and 7th runners.  

    Several JV boys’ ran season bests time in the JV race.  Ben Sebring (57th, 23:14), Blake Peterson (88th, 24:45), Andrew Urelius (93rd, 24:58), Kyle Baird (100th, 25:25), Dillon Sytsma (109th, 26:04), AJ Smith (112th, 26:20) and Blane Martens (121st, 27:30).  

In the girls’ JV race, Hannah Rees ran a career best 27:45 to finish 18th for the Jags.  Other girls improving their season times in the JV race were Chelsea Grossnickle (39th, 31:27), Leslie Housken (43rd, 32:44), Christine Housken (47th, 33:37) and Jade Wozab (53rd, 34:26).

The girls’ JV team finished 7th overall with 168 points and boys’ JV team finished 10th with 262 points.
