Pocahontas--The Jaguars headed north to face Pocahontas Area and come up on the short end of a 50-35 score. The Jags kept things close in the first quarter with their attacking defense, but trailed 10-7. Things went pretty much the same in the second quarter as the Jags trailed 20-13 heading into the halftime break. We wanted to keep our defensive pressure without allowing them straight line drives to the basket. We wanted to get our offense to use ball screens higher in the court to try and open things up. We also wanted to keep playing with the same intensity for the remaining twelve minutes of the game. We got things going offensively, but the Indians kept up their pace as well and the Jaguars still trailed 35-24 heading into the final quarter. It was a fun fast paced game until the final buzzer, but in the end the Jaguars were defeated 50-35 by Pocahontas Area. It was a fun game, both teams played at a quick pace. Defense was strong for both teams and it was a fun physical game. I am happy with the progress of this team and the adjustments they make as the game plays out.
