7th Grade Baseball Hitting Their Stride
The 7th Grade Baseball team for Southeast Valley is continuing in a consistent manner on the diamond, securing four straight wins in a 6 day stretch.
On Wednesday, June 5th, the young Jaguars clinched a 15-2 victory on the road over South Central Calhoun. Ethan Martin and Colton Bachel each pitched in the contest, with Josiah Hefley behind the plate. Plenty of Jaguars crossed home plate to score with Tucker Ollinger leading the way with 3 runs scored. Kinnick Meyer, Martin, and Hefley all recorded 2 RBI's on offense. Colden Mapel and Ollinger also added one RBI apiece.
The following day, the Jaguars travelled to Madrid to take on the Madrid Tigers. August Akins pitched a two inning gem and did not allow a Madrid hit in the shortened ball game, with a final score of 8-0. Akins struckout five Madrid Tiges up to bat. Scoring for the Jaguars were Tucker Ollinger, August Akins (2), Ethan Martin (2), Kinnick Meyer, Blaine Peterson, and Colton Bachel. Colden Mapel led the team with 2 RBIs.
On Friday, June 7th, the 7th grade squad scored a season high 17 runs and won 17-4 on the road in Manson. Tucker Ollinger started on the bump and finished a complete four inning ball game, allowing only 4 hits and zero earned runs. August Akins went perfect from the batter's box, going 4-4 with 4 singles and 4 runs scored. Kinnick Meyer was 2-2 with a double and a single, and recorded 2 RBIs. Tucker Ollinger roped a triple in the top of the 3rd inning and crossed the plate three times during the contest. Brock Norine added a double with one RBI for his efforts at the bat. Carter Lloyd also added one hit in the ball game.
After the weekend break, the Jaguars returned to the diamond. This time back at home taking on the neighbors to the south in the Ogden Bulldogs, winning in walk-off fashion and a score of 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th inning. Josiah Hefley, swinging the bat pretty well on the day, roped a hard hit ball up the middle infield and brought in the winning run with Tucker Ollinger managing his way to third base in the final bottom inning of the game. Hefley was 2-3 at the bat, with the winning single (RBI) and a double in his previous at bat. Ethan Martin, Ollinger, Colton Bachel, and Jackson Bintz all scored for the Jaguars. Colton Bachel pitched 3 full innings in the contest, striking out three and allowing only two hits while facing 14 batters. Ethan Martin pitched the final two innings, striking out four Bulldog batters. With a runner on third, and no outs recorded, the Jaguars needed to step up on defense. Martin rised to the occasion and struck out the top of the Ogden batting order with three consecutive outs in the top of the 5th inning, all before the heroics in the bottom of the inning.
