JV Volleyball Opens up Season
Gowrie, IA ~ The 2021 volleyball season for the junior varsity team opened up on Monday, August 23rd in Gowrie. The Jaguars hosted a quadrangular with teams from Newell-Fonda, Roland-Story, and South Central Calhoun. The team opened up against the Titans and lost by the scores of 20-25 and 15-25. In the second match of the night, the girls lost to Newell-Fonda by the scores of 16-25 and 13-25. In the final match of the day, the girls lost to Roland-Story 11-25 and 17-25. The team served at 88% for the day and struggled with passing to set up their offense.
On Tuesday, August 24th the Jaguars traveled to Jewell to participate in a triangular. They opened with playing the Hawks of South Hamilton and lost by the scores of 14-25 and 15-25. In the last match of the day, they defeated Eagle Grove by the scores of 25-16 and 25-23. The team did serve at 91% but struggled with serve receive.
The team traveled to Alta on Thursday, August 26th to face the Warriors of Alta-Aurelia. They lost by the scores of 11-21 and 12-21.
The team consists of Ava Brunner, Erica Burger, Anna Corell, Becca Davisson, Baileigh Elmore, Abby Halligan, Haylea Hutchinson, Lauren Johnson, Mila Johnson, Autumn Jones-Popp, Abby Slininger, Paige Weiland and Meghan Willison. After the first week of play, the girls stands 1-5 overall.
