Cadets Defeat Jags in Regional Play

Gowrie, IA ~ Southeast Valley hosted the first round of Region 3 in the Iowa 3A classification on Monday, October 18th. The Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets defeated the Jaguars by the scores of 23-25, 14-25, and 22-25. 

The Jaguars served at 91% efficiency with Maddie VanSickle, Kenna Scott, and Lauren Johnson perfect behind the serving line. Ellie Nolte had 16 assists for the night. Alex Kitchen led the team with eight kills at .22 efficiency. Addi Hindt had seven kills with a .083 efficiency rating. Breck Mills and Maddie VanSickle each had three kills and Madison Lane had one. Kenna Scott led the team with six digs. She was followed by Madison Lane with four, Nolte and Johnson with three each and Hindt, VanSickle, and Mills have two each. Breck Mills had one solo and one assist block, while Addie Hindt, Ava Brunner, and Ellie Nolte had one assist block.

The team ended the season hitting at .035 hitting efficiency. Most teams that are five hundred or above with their win/loss usually averages hitting efficiencies above .160 or better. Hitting efficiency is calculated by taking a player’s kills subtract their errors and then divide that by the number of attempts.  The team finished the season serving at 90% for the year. They had 292 digs and 101 blocks for the year too. A dig is recorded when the ball is brought up from an attack and it is played through to the opponent. Digs cannot out number the number of attacks from the opposition and a serve receive is not a dig. The team finishes the season at 7-21 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
