Wolverines Top Jags

West Bend, Iowa - Southeast Valley (1-1) visited West Bend-Mallard (1-2) for a JV/V double header. The Jaguars struggled offensively, shooting 29% from the field and 20% from the charity stripe losing in regulation 43-47.  


Breck Mills led Southeast Valley with 12 points 5 rebounds 1 assist. Madison Lane finished with 9 points 5 rebound 3 steals. Kenna Scott 6 points 9 assists. Alex Kitchen had 6 points and 13 rebounds. Halle Steck also had 6.      


The team pulled down 32 rebounds, came away with 7 steals, and had 12 assists for the night.  


“West Bend has a good defensive team and the Montag girl played well. We did a good job rebounding and defending. It is just hard to overcome a poor shooting night when we have to battle foul trouble, but I know these girls, they will come to practice Monday ready to to figure out what we need to do to make the team better. These kids are great that way!” Coach Mills


Next week the ladies are at home Tuesday, December 6th for a JV/V double header against St. Edmond and Friday, December, 9th for a JV/V contest against Emmetsburg. JV tips off both nights at 4 p.m. and Varsity tips off at 6 p.m.  


Junior Varsity

The JV girls also fell in a heartbreaker losing to West Bend by a layup with 10 seconds left on the clock.  


The Jaguars held the lead until midway through the third quarter when the Wolverines hit a 3 pointer to take the lead. The remainder of the second half went back and forth. Then with 45 seconds left on the clock Camryn Lane hit 2 key free throws to put the Jags up by 1. Despite solid defense with just 10 ticks left on the clock West Bend hit the game winning layup. Jags lost 22-21.  


Camryn Lane led the Jaguars with 14 points.
