XC Teams Travel to Pocahontas
The cross country teams traveled to Pocahontas on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. The boys cross country team just missed bringing home the team title scoring 70 points, just two points behind conference foe Sioux Central’s 68 points.
Cooper Nuss defended his title from a year ago on this course winning the individual title in a career best time of 17:54. Oscar Hanson and Zach Thompson were also medalists on Saturday. Oscar’s time of 18:18 was 4th place and Zach’s season best time of 19:27 was 19th. Asa Haub just missed the last medal position with his 21st place finish. Asa ran 19:31. Carson Suchan was the fifth Jaguar to cross the finish line, finishing 25th overall in a time of 20:07.
Caelan Oakes-Sudhish (36th) and Ben Thompson (55th, 23:50) were the 6th and 7th place displacement runners for the Jaguars. Caelan ran a career best time of 20:52.
The JV boys were able to claim the JV team title with 31 points outscoring 2nd place Sioux Central by nine points. Kyle Johnson led the Jaguars JV team with a 3rd place finish and a time of 21:49 and was one of four Southeast Valley medalists in the JV race. Spencer Suchan was right behind Kyle running a career best time of 21:58 to finish 4th. Maverick Dorman ran 22:42 to finish 6th and Cole Lundgren was 9th in a time of 23:27 to both earn medal honors. Bretton Farnham finished 13th in a career best time of 25:18.
Southeast Valley varsity girls team finished 9th in the team standings with 202 points. Manson NW won the girls title with 62 points followed by runner-up Pocahontas area 69 points.
Hailey Rees led the Jaguars with her career best time of 25:38 to finish 30th overall. Madison Doyle was 35th, running a season best time of 25:44. Also running season's best times were Jayden Gardipee (45th) in 27:56 and Meranda Hemmestad (50th) in 30:24. Shelby Mills (47th) ran a course PR in 28:28. Haley Stewart was the 6th runner for the Jaguars and ran a 33:09 to finish 54th.
The Jaguars have two weeks left in the regular season with meets on Tuesday, October 5th at Lake City and Monday, October 11th at Ida Grove. The Jaguars will return to Lake City on Saturday, October 16th for the Twin Lakes Conference meet.
