Jags Cross Country Competes in Last Regular Season Meet
The Southeast Valley cross country teams had their last regular season meet of the season on Monday, October 11th at Ida Grove. The Jaguars competed in the Bob Saunders Invite there where the boys finished 4th overall as a team and the girls finished 17th. Sioux City North’s JV team won the meet with 91 points. Woodbine was 2nd with 114 points. Conference foe Sioux Central took 3rd place, edging Southeast Valley by 1 point.
The girls race was won by Pocahontas with 100 points who upset Manson NW Webster by 3 points. Woodbine was fourth with 104 points.
Four medalists once again led the Jaguar boys. Oscar Hanson was 5th (18:21), Asa Haub was 21st (19:10), Carson Suchan was 29th (19:27) and Cooper Nuss was 32nd (19:35). Zach Thompson was the fifth scorer for the Jaguars in 40th (20:09) place overall. Kyle Johnson (94th, 22:07) and Spencer Suchan (101st, 22:27) were the final two varsity runners for the Jaguars.
Ty Klatt ran a season best in the boys’ race, running a 23:24 (120th). Also competing for the Jaguars were Jordan Cerwick (114th, 23:11), Maverick Dorman (122nd, 23:25), Ben Thompson (129th, 23:54), Cole Lundgren (132nd, 24:11), Jacob Snyder (151st, 26:36), Bretton Farnham (157th, 27:10) and Jameric Dalley (160th, 27:39).
On the girls’ side, Southeast Valley was led by Senior Madison Doyle who just missed her season best by 4 seconds, running a 25:15 (49th). Hailey Rees was 66th (26:18) and Shelby Mills ran her career best time of 27:39 (85th). Jayden Gardipee (101st, 29:21), Meranda Hemmestad (124th, 32:40) and Haley Stewart (129th, 34:35) completed the varsity team for the Jaguars.
The Jaguars will finish their season with the JV and Varsity competing in the Twin Lakes Conference meet on Saturday, October 16th in Lake City. The boys start at 9am on Saturday and the girls at 9:40am.
Then on Thursday, October 21st, Southeast Valley will be hosting one of five class 2A state qualifying meets in Gowrie at the Gowrie golf course. Girls race starts at 4pm and the boys at 4:30pm.
