Jags Compete In Jefferson

The Southeast Valley cross country teams competed on a hot morning, September 11th at the Jefferson golf course for the Greene Country Cross Country meet. In the ten team invite, the boys’ team finished 4th and the girls’ team finished 6th. As of the time of writing this article, the official results had not been received, therefore, all times and places are unofficial and subject to being updated.

In the boys’ race, four Jaguars claimed medal honors. Cooper Nuss (18:42) and Oscar Hanson (18:54) continue to pace the team finishing 3rd and 4th respectively. Asa Haub (16th) and Zach Thompson (18th) picked up their first medal honors of the season. The pair of seniors both ran season PRs on Saturday with Asa running 20:15 and Zach running 20:19 for 5k.

The Jaguars were missing three of their top 8 runners from the first two meets of the year for numerous reasons and the result saw Kyle Johnson getting his first varsity action and the 5th scorer for Southeast Valley running 22:51 for 33rd place. Calean Oakes-Sudhish (37th, 22:34) and Ben Thompson (40th, 23:22) were the sixth and seventh scorers for the team.

Also competing for the boys were Spencer Suchan (41st, 23:50), Jacob Snyder (52nd, 28:00), Cole Lundgren (54th, 28:22), Bretton Farnham (58th, 28:39) and Jamie Dalley (60th, 30:17).

Freshman Hailey Rees paced the Southeast Valley girls again Saturday running a 27:35. Madison Doyle was the second Jaguar for the girls in a time of 30:15. Shelby Mills (31:36), Alexis Peterson (32:27) and Meranda Hemmestad (33:20) were the next three runners to cross the finish line. Haley Stewart ran a season PR in 34:38 to be the 6th and final runner to cross the finish line.

The Jaguars will next compete at Par 3 Golf Course in Panorama on Thursday, September 16th and then at Story City on Thursday, September 23rd.
