92nd National FFA Convention

Print Version

Indianapolis, IN ~ The Central Plains FFA Chapter had eight members and their advisor attend the 92nd National FFA Convention October 29th through November 1st.  Members attending were: Rylie Ferrari, Will Fishbaugh, Connor Klingson, Caden Larson, Aidan Lemke, Lucas Jondle, Carson Suchan, and Pierce Woodruff.  The chapter traveled with five other chapters in a chartered bus.  The other chapters were Roland-Story, Gilbert, Grundy Center, South Hamilton and Des Moines.

On the way to Indianapolis, the bus stopped at Wildlife Prairie Park outside of Peoria, Illinois.  They spent an hour and half touring the facilities.  The next day the group traveled to Louisville, Kentucky and toured Louisville Slugger and Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby.

During the Opening Session of the Convention, the members heard from the keynote speaker Bob Goff.  Bob Goff is the New York Times Best-Selling author of “Love Does and Everybody Always”, the Honorary Consul to the Republic of Uganda, an attorney, and the found of Love Does-a nonprofit human rights organization operating in Uganda, India, Nepal, Iraq, and Somalia.  He’s a lover of balloons, cake pops, and helping people purse their big dreams.

The convention highlighted 50 years of women in FFA.  It was 1969 when the National FFA Organization delegates passed the resolution to allow girls in FFA.

On Thursday of the trip. the chapter planned their own agenda and spent most of the day at Lucas Oil Stadium at two sessions and then spent time at the Career Show in the Indianpolis Convention Center.  They also walked a few blocks and toured the NCAA Hall of Fame Center and Museum.

The group returned back to Iowa late Friday night.  Over 69,000 members and guests attended the convention making it one of the largest youth conventions in the United States.
