Jaguars start District play

Print Version

The Jaguar football team started District play this week defending their 2018 District title by starting it off we a big win 34-6 over Clarion Goldfield.  What a great way to start District play.

The Jags have had a terrible couple weeks dealing with injuries as 11 kids were not dressed Friday night at the start of the game and 2 plays into this game another was added to the list.  That put our total to 8 kids that have been playing some varsity were not on the field. You could tell the kids were like why is happening and the coaches felt the same way.  Sometimes like last year you have those years where nobody has injuries and you have a great run.  Sometimes you have those years like we are experiencing.  You preach next man in all the time and tell them to always be ready and the Jags have had to ask a number of kids to step up to the varsity level this year.  The difference so far is we have asked a lot to step up and fill shoes and we have been able to win during this time and that is huge for the young Jaguar team.  To be sitting 4-1 with what the boys have experienced is a testament to the boys.  Very proud of them.

The Jags start the game with Chase Swieter returning the opening kickoff 23 yards.  First play Hunter Kruse hit Chase Swieter for a 32 yard gain.
Lathe Muench has a 3 yard run
Hunter Kruse hits Kolson Kruse for a 11 yard catch
Hunter Kruse hit Carter LAne for a 20 yard catch and finally Hunter Kruse hit Kolson Kruse for a 8 yard TD.
Hunter Sorenson runs it the 2 point conversion and the Jags take the early lead 8-0

Clarion puts together a very long 16 play drive buts the Jags were able to stop them on the 17 yard line.

Jags put a 13 play scoring drive together but it took a 16 yard completion to Carter Lane on 3rd down to keep this long drive going
Then the line took this drive over and Hunter Sorenson and Lathe Muench pounded the ball and Lathe Muench scored on a 1 yard run and also ran in the 2 point conversion and took the lead 16-0

Neither team can get anything going before half.

Clarion opens up second half with a 9 play drive after a very short kickoff but were stopped on 4th down on the 20 yard line.

Jags have to punt 3 plays later and now we are getting a little more concerned because we have not been moving the ball like we want.

Clarion another 10 play drive but Jags defense steps up again.

Finally Jags get run game going

Calvin Reihl had a quick 22 yards

Lathe Muench had a 18 yard run

Hunter Kruse hit Kolson Kruse for a 20 reception and the Jags take the lead 22-0

Clarion waste no time and go down the field and get a 19 yard TD

Jags put a 13 play drive together to run the clock and finish the drive with hunter Kruse hitting Carter LAne for a 7 yard TD

To finish the game Carter Lane has a Interception and returns it for a TD to make the final score 34-6.  Coach was very happy with that last score because he had a great game and that was a little icing on the cake for Cater.

The Jags have a lot to prepare for this week.  Every Monday is someone new and it is the same this week.  We will enjoy this win and get right back to work.
