Jags run at Webster City

The Jaguar cross country teams ran into some tough competition at Webster City on Tuesday, September 3rd at the Lynx Invitational.  The 14 teams at the meet consisted of schools of all sizes; from class 1A through 4A. The girls’ team had the higher finish, finishing 8th overall in the team race.  The boys’ team finished 13th. Class 3A power Humboldt won both the boys and girls divisions. Webster City and Fort Dodge Senior High took 2nd and 3rd respectively on the boys side, while Algona and St. Edmond claimed the same places on the girls’ side.

Madison Doyle ran her career best time of 26:18 to lead the girls, while Morgan Farnham (26:41) and Marlie Johnson (27:01) ran faster than they do two years ago on the same course.  Viatris Scott and Taegan Long were the next two Jaguars to cross the finish, both running season best times of 31:04 and 32:26 respectively. Jayden Gardipee crossed the line in 33:19 to round out the varsity runners.

In JV action, freshman Lauren Tidman dropped almost three minutes from her first meet, finishing in a time of 31:52, followed by Shelby Mills (34:37) and Christine Housken (37:46).

In the boys’ varsity race, Gabe Campbell was the top Southeast Valley finisher, running the course in 20:50, followed by Zach Thompson in 21:06.  Sophomore Carson Suchan tied his career best with a 21:19 and was followed by Cooper Nuss (22:02). Asa Haub (22:12), Blake Peterson (23:12) and Caleb Kaltschnee (23:45).

Wyatt Sprecher (23:06) was the first JV boys for the Jaguars to cross the finish and Kyle Johnson (23:55) was the second Jaguar.  Rounding out the top five were Parker Johnson (24:56) and Nolan Jackson (25:42) both ran season PR’s and Ty Klatt (25:12) to pace the JV team to an 11th place finish.  

Sam Sytsma (27:11), AJ Smith (30:37), Zane Geis (33:15), Jacob Snyder (33:43) and Jamey Dalley (34:38) competed in the JV boys’ race as well.

The cross country teams will compete again on Thursday, September 12th at Spring Lake (hosted by Greene County).  This will also be the Junior High’s first meet of the season. On Thursday, September 19th, the Jaguars will head to Panorama.
