Jags win big over Hampton Dumont

Jags started off the season with a big win over Hampton Dumont.  It was a great start to the season but they did not start the game the way they wanted to.

First play Hunter Kruse hit Chase Swieter for a 12 yard gain.  Great start but 2 plays later the Jags throw an interception.

Hampton puts a nice 10 play drive together but the Jags defense had a huge goal line stand on the 2 yard line.  That was a huge stand.

Jags get ball back and have to punt 4 plays later.

Hampton moves the ball again and gets down to the 15 yard line but the Jags defense steps up again and holds them out.

Jags look to get things rolling but 6 plays later the Jags throw their second interception of the game.  This is when a little panic set in.

Jags defense steps up for the third straight time and forces a 4 and out.

Lathe Muench has 54 yard run down to the 1 yard line and then Lathe punched it in for the TD.  Chase Swieter hits the PAT and the Jags are ahead 7-0.  That was the punch the Jags needed.

Hampton can't handle the Jags defense again and were forced to punt after another 4 plays.

Jags move the ball and had a 3rd and 1 and they fumbled and had their 3rd turnover of the game.

Hampton moves the ball but were forced to punt again.

With less than 1 minute on the clock the Jags were not going to take a knee.  Hunter Kruse hit Chase Swieter for a 38 yard catch and 1 play later Lathe Muench runs it in from 12 yards and then Chase Swieter hits the PAT and takes the lead 14-0 into half.
This was big going into half.

Hampton 4 and out

Jags get chance and throw their 3rd interception and their 4th turnover of the game.  Not what the Jags needed.

Three plays later Chase Swieter has a Interception and returns it for 45 yards for the TD and changed the game.  Chase Swieter also hit the PAT and the Jags lead 21-0.

Game goes back and forth.

Aaron Graves gets a Interception and returns it 35 yards.  9 Plays later Hunter Kruse runs it in and the Jags take the lead 27-0

On the last play of the game Hampton scored on a short pass.

Jags win their 9th straight game at home.

Coach Swieter was very happy with the win and we will enjoy it for a day then get right back to work.  We have a lot to work on.  We can't turn the ball over 4 times and win like we did.  We have a lot of young kids with starting 4 Sophomores on each side of the ball but if we can learn from our mistakes we can be a very good team.

Coach was very happy with Lathe Muench running the ball for his first Varsity start.  Coach is also happy with how everyone blocked to help him get those yards.

The defense had a great night and the D-line really stepped up.  Aaron Graves led the team in sacks with 4.  That is a lot of kids season stats and he gets 4 the opening night.  He is very tough to run against.

Thanks to all the fans who came out and supported the Jags.  Wow that was a great crowd there to see the Jags get this win.
