7/1 Greene County 5-2 W (11-10)

Print Version

After a busy last week of baseball the Jags really slowed things down on the 4th holiday week.  The lone game of the week came on Monday against the Rams from Greene County.  The 3A team came in playing good baseball but it was the Jag Seniors in their last home game in Dayton, which savored the day.  The Jaguars sent Senior Jackson Housken out to the mound and after giving up an early two run homer the senior settled in giving up no more runs over the next five innings, striking out eight batters and giving up three walks.  Jackson reached his pitch limit which sent in Coledon Bethel who threw one inning reaching his pitch total of 25 which if he went over by one pitch he wouldn’t be able to pitch tomorrow evening.  With runners on and two outs the Jag coaches trusted Rhett Grandfield with the ball and he didn’t disappoint getting the third out on a fly ball to the starter Jackson Housken who was now out in centerfield.

The Jag bats did just enough on the day getting timely hits with four RBI’s.  The seniors Jackson Housken and Xavier Nichols got the job done with two RBI’s apiece both going 1 for 3, while leadoff hitter Kolson Kruse did the same going 1 for 3 and scoring twice.  Memphis Simpson made the most of his pinch hitting in the 6th as he had a base hit which scored a run and took a close game and gave the Jags the lead.  Senior Colton Kamp reached on a walk and scored after a well-placed bunt off the bat of Sam Hanson who got the ball down scoring Colton.  The Jaguars did enough offensively and some good defense by the Jaguars sealed the Victory against a good 3A baseball school.

JV ACTION: 4-9 L (6-7-1)

Sam Hanson was the starter for the JV game struggling early to find his strike zone allowing 6 walks of all of which scored but only he gave up 3 hits and when hitting on the strike zone he dominated.  The sophomore Hanson, gave the ball up to Freshmen Caden Larson who threw alright but gave up four runs on 4 hits which was a bit too much for the Jaguars.  The Jaguar bats did an alright job being led by a slew of Jagaurs gaining one hit was Rhett Grandfield, Carson Lambert, Memphis Simpson.  While Caden Larson and Lucas Jondle had good nights gaining hits on their only at bat of the afternoon.  Outfielder Harley Bryson was also hit by a pitch and made it around the bases scoring on a pass ball.
