Boys compete at ISU Indoor meet

The Southeast Valley boys’ track team took a handful of athletes to the ISU indoor meet on Tuesday, March 19th in Ames.  Memphis Simpson broke his season PR, throwing 41’ 10.25” in the shot put. Jared Kastendieck threw 38’ 8”.

In the high jump, Nyles Johnson finished 6th with a jump of 6’ 0” and freshman Kaleb Scott cleared 5’ 8”.  Klyer Fisher reached 18’ 6” while Rhett Grandfield jumped 16’ 5” in the long jump.

Carter Lane and Jarrett Loseke both ran a season best in the 60m hurdles, running 9.81 and 10.05 respectively.  In the 60m dash, Colton Kamp ran 7.87 and Sam Hanson 7.98.

In the distance events, Coledon Bethel and Ben Carlson competed in the 3200m run, while Robert Jepsen and Isaiah Gibbs competed in the 1600m run.  Bethel ran 11:12.37, Carlson 11:25.18, Jepsen 5:30.82 and Gibbs 5:44.32.

The Jags also competed in three relays at ISU.  The 4 x 800 of Gabe Campbell, Hunter Sorenson, Jonah Siebert and Zach Thompson ran 9:52.27.   A season best of 4:11.19 was run by the quartet of Colton Kamp, Sam Hanson, Hunter Kruse and Rhett Grandfield in the 1600m medley relay.  Ending the night, running 3:48.65 was Nyles Johnson, Mason Ackerson, Chase Swieter and Kyler Fisher in the 4 x 400m relay.
