Jags tie for Fifth at Charger Invite

    In a solid 19 team field, the Jags finished tied for 5th at the Charger Invite at Guthrie Center Saturday, January 27th with the Jag JV wrestling in the morning portion of the day and Varsity action finishing the day. Sr. Kyler Fisher made the move to 182 capturing the title by defeating 1A defending State Champ Gabe Pauley(AHST) 3-2 in the Ultimate Tiebreaker earning him Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet award. On his way to the title Kyler defeated 6th ranked Colby Page(SEW) 19-8 in the semifinals. 220 lb Clayton McFarland had strong run to the finals before running into top ranked Cosy Fisher of Woodward Granger losing 20-8 settling for runner up honors. Sr. Xavier Nichols wrestled a fine tournament amongst the big boys finishing in third place in a tough 285 lb bracket. In the semi's Xavier lost to top ranked Spencer Trenary of Clarion-Goldfield but bounced back with a 3-2 decision in the consolation semi's and defeated ninth ranked Tyler Lawrenson(WG) 2-1 for third place. Xavier also hit a career milestone winning his 100th career victory in the consolation semi's. 113 lbs Colden Bethel bounced back from a disappointing semifinal loss to take 3rd place, defeating Mick Schroder of Oakland Riverside 11-0. Mason Goodwin(113) finished in fifth place with 6-3 decision over Nate Thoma(MNW) and Sam Hemmestad(126) finished in 8th place. Rylie Ferrari(132), Max Miller(138), Jonah Siebert(145), Lathe Muench(152), and Zack Miller(160) did not place in the tough tournament. 

     In morning JV action Chase Kamp(152) and Jaxon Carlson(220) finished in 1st place. Caleb Kaltschnee(113) and Wyatt Sprecher(120) finished as runner ups. Carson Suchan(113), Kian Clark(152), Harley Bryson(182), Mark Hughes(195) finished in third place. Brayden Danielson(132), Reed Andrews(138), Coltan Brant(138), and Zane Geis(195) finished in fourth place. 

    Post season wrestling begins next Saturday, February 2nd, with Sectional wrestling at Humboldt. Wrestling begins at 12:00 PM.
