Jaguars finish a great season

Print Version

The Jaguar finished the season with many things to be proud of as a program. The Varsity finished the season 8-3, upset 2 undefeated highly ranked teams by beating ranked 2nd 5-0 Spirit Lake and ranked 3rd 8-0 Algona to win Class 2A District 2 Championship.  They also advanced to the playoffs and beat OA-BCIG who was previously ranked 5th to advance to the State Quarter Finals.  The Jags also finished the season in the AP rankings at 5th.  They also went undefeated at home this year 6-0.  The boys will always remember this season and should be very proud of what they accomplished.  They exceeded everyone's expectations.  Coach Swieter has been a head coach for 18 years and said this schedule by far has been the toughest schedule any of his teams have had to face by playing 6 teams who were ranked in the top 5 through out the year.

Coach Swieter was also happy with the overall program.  The young kids had a great season also.  The JV finished the season at 4-2 and the JVR team went 5-0.  The overall program went 17-5.  That is a great season and shows them that all their work has paid off.

Coach Swieter wants to wish his 14 seniors and 2 seniors managers the very best.  What a great group of boys to work with over the last 4 years.  It has been an honor coaching them.  I really hope the young ones watched and learned from them the work and dedication it took over the years to accomplish what they did this season.

Southeast Valley’s Football Coach, Mike Swieter, would like to thank everyone for their support this season.  The fans showed great support all season and it was always great when the boys got to do their cheer with them after each win. There are so many people who take time out of their lives to help the football program and it is very much appreciated.

He would like to thank his coaching staff and their families, as well as his wife, Mindy, for the time and dedication to this program. Nobody except other coaches understand the time spent outside of school and practice to have a successful program and all of our coaches give time out of their lives to better the football team.  Coach wanted to give a special thanks to Mark Graves and Keaton Martin. They both coached this season as volunteers and it was very much appreciated.

Swieter would also like to express his sincere appreciation to Brad Lane for his years of volunteering to help the team.  Brad has been the team statistician for 22 years. Greg Hiesterman was new this year and did a great job video taping the Friday night games.  Bruce McCormick also helps with the team on Friday night away games. Megan Davis our athletic trainer spends hours and hours helping get our kids back on the field.

There are so many more people that that have given their time and talents to the SV Football Program and to all of you, Coach Swieter extends his heartfelt appreciation.
