7- 7 Panorama L 3-4 @ Woodward Granger DISTRICTS

Print Version

Momentum is a big thing in baseball.  Start out flat can hurt a team’s hopes for victory.  A little bit of that happened Saturday as the Jaguars finished their season with a upset win by Panorama Panthers.  The Panthers came out to play scoring three runs in the first inning off the Jaguars number one pitcher Nolan Johnson.  Sadly all the runs were unearned runs meaning if the Jaguars made the plays they would have gotten out of the inning unscathed.  Sadly the runs did count and the Jaguars came out a little flat making it a come from behind a fare the rest of the way.  Senior Nolan Johnson did throw well only allowing six hits and No earned runs throughout the game only walking two with four strikeouts.  An unfortunate way to end his glorious pitching career as a Jaguar, after the first the Panthers scored one more run in the third inning with two outs and a ball landing just beyond the reach of the usually steady center fielder Jackson Housken.  It just as not the Jaguars game as a play differently here and there and the Jaguars at least tie, if not take the lead and the momentum.

It was not simply meant to be though as nice swings by Coledon Bethel in the 6th and Jackson Housken in the 5th went right to the Panorama defenders.  That’s the way baseball is sometimes, you can hit it ten times harder than the other team but if it is right at guys that makes a huge difference.  Leading the way for the Jaguar bats was Jackson Housken, Nolan Johnson, Jaxon Myers, Tommy Lennon, and Xavier Nichols.  Getting runners across was Jaxon Myers and Xavier Nichols whose hit was a huge double along with Senior Nolan Johnson whose lone hit was a double as well.

So many opportunities for the Jaguars and so many plays could have gone just a little differently and the Jaguars would be moving on.  However like mentioned before, it was not meant to be for the Jaguars as they saw their season come to an end.  Gaining 13 wins in a season where the Jagaurs lost 7 seniors last year, most of which contributed big time the previous four years, is really attribute to the Jaguar Seniors who had good years allowing them to achieved 13 wins in the year where no one was expecting that.

Thank you goes to the Jaguar Seniors; Jaxon Myers, Nolan Johnson, Tommy Lennon, and Isaac Peebler.  All have done a fabulous job this year with their bats and with their defense.  They were definitely the heart of the 2018 Jaguar Baseball team.
