6/28 @ Coon Rapids L 1-11 (12-8)

July 02, 2018

Print Version

A busy week ended on a sour note for the Jaguars.  After traveling 450 miles over the course of the week the well-traveled Jaguars went down to Coon Rapids to face the Raiders and their 700 win coach Legendary John Waddle.  One thing is for sure when you play Coon, you’re in for a fight.  The Jaguars had Senior Tommy Lennon pitching on the mound.  It was the senior’s first start ever and only gave up three hits but walked 5 batters hitting three others.  Facing a good team like Coon Rapids giving them free walks is not a good thing and they capitalized on it.  Scoring five runs in the first inning, then chipping away with one, three and two in the third, fourth and fifth innings which secured the 10 run rule after the 5th inning.  Freshmen Sam Hanson replaced Tommy Lennon and threw okay but walks again struck the Jaguar pitchers as Sam gave up four walks with led to the Raiders securing the win.

Offensively the Jaguars had chances to score more runs but couldn’t get the big hit.  Leading the bats on this day was Xavier Nichols recording two hits and scoring Jaxon Myers the lone run for the game.  A slew of other Jaguars recorded a hit each including Jackson Housken, Nolan Johnson, Jaxon Myers, Coledon Bethel and Pitcher Tommy Lennon whose hits ended up a double.  Altogether the Jaguars actually out hit the Raiders 7 to 4 but it was the defense giving up free bases which doomed them in the end.

A long week which saw the Jaguars traveling a lot of distance but the 4 win – 1 loss week is good for most teams. Next week schedule below as it is the final week of the regular season with three home games to finish off the season.  Then the Jaguars will start district play as they will travel to Woodward Granger for the start of district play to face off against Panorama.  The District game will start at 5.

Monday July 2nd – Senior Night vs. Eagle Grove (come out and support your Jag Seniors!)

Tuesday July 3rd – Newell Fonda (conference makeup) 4:30
