6/11 @Pocahontas L 0-10

Print Version

The Jaguars first game of the week started at Pocahontas where they faced a very good team for a conference matchup.  The Indians sent out their ace and the Jaguars did the same sending out Nolan Johnson against Jace Davidson.  The Indians struck first in the first inning with three early runs, the jaguars keep them quiet until the 5th inning when Tommy Lennon came in after Nolan reached his pitch limit.  A big fifth inning for the Indians with 6 runs which included some misplayed squeeze bunts by the Jaguar defense lead to the 10 run rule.

Nolan had an uncharacteristic off game but against a tough team giving up six hits with five earned runs.  He struck out 5 batters while Tommy Lennon gave up five runs on three hits.  The bats were quiet most of the night facing a very good pitcher.  Senior Isaac Peebler came out of a slump and had a nice hit which went out to right center.  A tough game against one the conference’s best pitchers but the Jaguars would have to bounce back and get some more conference wins this week.
