Jaguars Fight Hard against Roland-Story

Southeast Valley traveled to Story City Monday, January 8th, to face Roland-Story. Despite a valiant team effort, the Jaguars dropped  the contest 48 - 58. The end of the first quarter found the Jaguars ahead 13 - 12. The Jags only produced four points in the second quarter, finding themselves down 17 - 32 at the half. However, the Jaguars came out of the locker room after half-time and brought the hustle. The Jaguars out-scored the Norsemen 31 - 26 in the second half, but it just wasn't enough to claw their way back. At the end of the third quarter the Jags were behind 25 - 48. They were down by as much as twenty-five points, with five minutes left in the ball game. Jaguar hustle resulted in outscoring Roland-Story 23 - 10 in the fourth quarter. The ladies made their pride known by playing hard til the final buzzer sounded.

  Morgan Castenson lit it up on offense for the Jaguars with 17 points, connecting on all four of her shots from behind the arch. Mady Jaeschke answered the offensive call for the Jags, scoring 11 points. Jaynie Ferrari showed her strength, resulting in 7 points. Cassidy Lambert went to work in the paint to produce 5 points for the Jaguars. Kasey Lundberg went to work and pounded out 4 points for the Jags. Kenzie Crampton hit a three-pointer to finish the contest with 3 points. Karissa Hiesterman took a trip to the free-throw line, to collect 1 point for the Jaguars.

  The Jaguars played solid defense, boxed out well, and took much better care of the ball, resulting in offensive execution and controlling the boards.
