Football season ends

Jags lose final game 28-6 and finish the season 4-5 and 4-3 in the district which placed them 4th out of 8 teams.

The Jags knew it was going to be a tough game because we knew Kuemper returned a lot from last years team by returning 18 Seniors and winners of 17 of their last 20 games.  The Jags took the field with only 4 seniors for their game for the Jags.  The Jags came out with everything they had and took Kuemper into the 2nd Quarter 0-0.  The Jags were playing well and Kuemper was a little worried that it was a game.

In the 2nd Quarter Kuemper hit a big 43 yard pass and then had a 17 yard run up the middle for a TD.  Kuemper has a 1st Team All State kicker and Punter so they made the score 7-0

4 plays later the Jags fumbled the ball back.

Jags defense was up for the challenge again and forced Kuemper to punt.  Well that did not go as planned as the punt was 78 yards and changed the whole field position.

Kuemper got things rolling and started moving the ball and decided to try sneaking one in from a pass but Nyles Johnson picked it off and returned it for a 96 yard TD and made the score 7-6

Kuemper came right back and threw a 20 yard TD to make the score 14-6.  Half time score was 14-6

3rd quarter did not go well for the Jags.  Ran 5 plays and had to punt.

4 plays later Kuemper has a 34 yard TD run and takes a 21-6 lead.

1 play Jags fumble it back

Kuemper scored again 5 plays later.  So in 10 plays Kuemper scores twice and the Jags had one play for a fumble.  You just can't give good teams those extra opportunities and they took advantage of our mistakes.

Very happy after this the Jags still never gave up and went back and forth the whole 4th Quarter 0-0.

Coach Swieter says it is always hard losing a game like this but is so proud of how the boys could have quit when we were 0-3 at the start of the season and ended up winning 4 games.  They had a never quit or never give up attitude and that is why we had success after starting 0-3.

Coach Swieter wants to wish his 4 seniors the best of luck.  Nolan Johnson, Matt Ross, Daven Rees and Tommy Lennon.  Very proud of these boys.  When you have a class like this with low numbers it would have been real easy to give it up but they finished with 3 winning season and made the playoffs 3 of their 4 years while in High School.

Coach Swieter knows the boys need a break and time get ready for winter sports but can't wait to start preparing for next season because of how many kids return next season compared to this last one by losing 13 kids.  Coach knows if the kids can work hard and do what they need to get better the Jags have big hopes for next season.
