XC compete in Norsman Invitational

The Jaguar cross country teams traveled to Story City on a very hot and humid Thursday, Sept. 21st to compete in the Norseman Invitational meet.

    The girls team was able to score 154 points and finish 6th place overall in the 11 team field.  North Polk won the meet with 22 points followed by Madrid with 99 points.  

    Sammy Alphs lead all girls’ with a season best time of 23:00 which was good enough for 13th place.  Katara Jondle ran 23:28 to finish 19th overall.  Both girls’ were medalists for the Jaguars.  Alli True (34th, 24:44), Emily Hemmestad (59th, 26:20) and Morgan Farnham (76th,, 27:49) were the next three scorers for the Jaguars.  Marlie Johnson (87th, 28:49) and Hannah Rees (90th, 28:55) were the Jaguars’ 6th and 7th runners for the varsity.

    Also competing in the girls’ race were Viatris Scott (97th, 29:53), Emma Hunter (108th, 31:10), Jade Wozab (113th, 31:26) Leslie Housken (123rd, 33:29) and Taegan Long (126th, 33:50)  138 runners competed in the girls’ race.

    The boys scored 339 points to finish 12th overall in the boys’ race.  Coledon Bethel was the Jaguars’ top runner finishing 50th place with a time of 19:40.  Ben Carlson was able to cross the line in a season best 19:49 for 55th.  Patrick Breitsprecher (85th, 20:55), Nolan Jackson (108th, 21:42) and Lincoln Miller (22:15) were the next three Southeast Valley runners to finish.  The next two scorers for the Jaguars were Parker Johnson (131st, 22:37) and Ben Sebring (139th, 22:45).

    Also competing against the 264 runners in the boys’ race were Isaiah Gibbs (165th, 23:26), Blake Peterson (117th, 24:02), Kaylb Crouse (187th, 24:31), Jared Kastendieck (197th, 24:51), AJ Smith (221st, 26:08), Andrew Urelius (223rd, 26:14), Dillon Sytsma (228th, 26:56), Daniel Johnson (231st, 27:26), Logan Stapp (234th, 28:01), Kyle Baird (237th, 28:28), and Blane Martens (240th, 28:550.  Making his cross country debut was foreign exchange student Aryan Azim who ran 33:04 to finish 258th.  Aryan is from Bangladesh.  

    The Jaguars will next compete at Pocahontas on Saturday, September 30th and Lake City on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd.
